Confronting evil

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.  For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.  Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.  Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.  And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.  Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.  Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.  For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.   For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.   But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.  Psalm 37:1-11

Sometimes we can confront things that are so evil, so contrary to the Spirit, that it grieves us.  That’s a normal reaction, but if we are not careful it can consume us and actually cause us to get our eyes off of Jesus.   In the above Psalm, David is telling us not to worry about these people, because God will take care of them.  If we just concentrate on pleasing God, He will cause us to prosper and those that do wickedly will be cut off.

I have been struggling with this as I see people doing a lot of bad things to this country, and it depressed me a little, made me a little sick, and I was wondering what if anything I could do to confront it.    If evil gets in our way, then of course, we need to confront it, but if it’s something on the side, we should just leave it alone and God will take care of it.  We can get a little sidetracked when we see people who do evil prosper in their way.  They seem at ease, and happily going along, sometimes hurting a lot of people in their path.

But if we concentrate on those things, they will keep us from doing what Jesus wants us to do which is to focus on building His kingdom.   So, I had to give it to God and realize that He will take care of this and that I need to focus on encouraging people to revival, which is what will really take care of the problem.  People need Jesus, and that’s why evildoers are allowed to prosper.  If there is revival in the Spirit, these things will be swept into history, just as the Romans were in the time of Jesus.

So, today, I went to church and worshiped Jesus, and allowed the Holy Ghost to move in me and letting God take care of the evildoers.
